tonight at the floor show: I do the musical theater tag!!!

1. first musical you ever saw?
if i was gonna for the first musical i saw on DVD or video i would have to say Oliver for video and marry Poppins for DVD but theater wise saw the Lion king in London with my school in year 7. It was amazing, i just loved how colorful and energetic it was. Also as i knew the story because i am such a huge Disney nerd, so it was easy to follow.

2. Favorite musical growing up?
Mine changes far to often but i would have to say the 2 most constant are les misarables and The sound of music. They have been in my top 4 for years now.

3. where you ever in a musical?
No unfortianly i have had minor roles in natrivitys and school plays but never in an actual musical as for one my voice was 3000times more pitchy as a child and I was never involved in any Drama clubs because i was an anitysocail child who didn't like big group activitys.

4. first musical you say on boardway/ the west end?
The Lion King.

5. If you could be any female character in a musical who would you be and why?
As a kid i would have said maria as i love the sound of music or Mary Poppins because Julie Andrews is my queen, but i think now i would like to be Angelica from Hamilton. I have listened to the sound track and her songs are my favorite. She is so selfless but sassy and i just love her. My close second would be Gilda (wicked) or Wednesday Adams (the Addams family musical) which is a very strange combination.

6.Which male character?
Fagin because i used to practice i am reviewing the situation a kid, because i am normal. my other two runner ups Amus heart (Chicago), mainly because i love singing Mr cellophane and i have my own dance routine to it, or Burt (Marry Poppins) because i wanna dance with penguins damn it.

7. favorite musical to sing in the shower?
weirdly i do sing Ava maria from sister act a lot in the shower but i think the one i sing most is wash that man right out of my hair from south Pacific because it just fits.

8.Favorite theater actress?
Carrier hopefletcher she was so so so good in Chitty, when i went to see it.

9.actour?
Gernimo rauch, i have only ever seen him in Phantom of the Oprah but he was an amazing Eric.

10. Favorite movie adaptation?
Les Misarable, i have never seen the real stage show so for me the musical is the show as i love it, i watch it far to often.

11. most underated musical?
Heathers, its like scream queens meets the every 80's high school chic flick. what is not to love!

12. over rated musicals?
The king and I. i like parts of this one but i feel some parts are unnecessary and dull. i also did not really feel wowed by Annie but that is mainly because i found teh actress annoying.

14.musicals that made you cry?
Phantom of the Oprah, and les misarable, becasue that ish is sad.

15. Musicals you saw and hated?
I have not come a cross one i completely hate yet.

16.a musical you would like to see as a film?
wicked, i would love to see all the effects and have a copy of the show to watch any time at home.

17.which musical are you dieing to see?
Anistaisa mostly!! i loved that film as a kid but i also want to see, Hamiliton (i only have the sound track and a plot summery) and La La land which my friends have introduced me to. (its an up coming film, i wanna make a hole post on it when its out).

18. a book to turn in to a musical?
I would quite like to see Weathering hights, because i like the book, it has an interesting story line, and they would already have one song to put in it. or (and i know this is kind of already a musical) the hunch back of notre dame in live action because i am obsessed with cartoons art style and color plate, plus creepy church music is my jam.

19.( add in) favorite musical to watch at Christmas?
scrooge the musical, AKA the best version of a Christmas carol... minus the Muppets.

Presents Tag

I SAY unoriginal you say content. UNORIGINAL. UNORGINAL. I SAY "a lot of things but not always that I have low to average self-esteem and like 60 ideas that, I am incapable of writing because I'm so tired, so instead I do tags to fill the void" and you say "Damn we are not you therapists."

Hey sorry for that intro, unless you didn't do the chant back because in that case I'm less sorry and more disappointed. (you have made a fool of me and I am perfectly capable of doing it my self).
anyway to day I am gonna do a tag ...big shock !! but as I do want make this a little bit more original was going to  try and do a less well known tag, but then I could not find one with a traveling to the metaphorical mordor of the internet, so I took matters in to my own hands... *insert ominous, but suspenseful drum beat* MY OWN (UNORIGNAL) PRESENTS TAG!!!! *HYPE HYPE HYPE*.

As a Christmas elf, you have got to know the prefect gift for everyone, for example Donald trump world like some building block, The UK wants democracy back and we would all like 2016 to end. Anyway for this tag I will be selecting fictional characters or people and saying what I would get them for Christmas and yes that is lame, but do you know what is one letter off lame. Fame (why am I bringing this up because I'm bad and linking my intro in my main text). so Fame, what a classic "I'm Gonna live for ever Baby remember my name" speaking of names and living for ever my first present goes to DOCTOUR WHO!! ( I warned you I was bad a linking it in).

So for the 12 doctor my perfect present would be tickets to go see the original premier of pretty women. A because I love that film, B because he plays the song on this guitar in one episode and C because it would be funny to see him sitting in a cinema surrounded by mostly women, watching a chick flick.

The next person on my presents list is Credence Barebone from, Fanatics beast, to whom I would give the world because he deserved better god damn it!!

My next present is for Barry aka the flash (the secrets out now sorry), I would give him the gift of The back to the future box set, SO HE MIGHT FINALLY REALISE HE NEEDS TO STOP MESSING WITH THE TIME LINES! seriously Barry!!!.

Also getting a gift this year is JK Rowling, she will be getting all my money... again.

Lin- Manuel Miranda gets all our love for being the sweets little cinnamon bun in the world.

My final gift goes out to us all, because Ransom Riggs is writing a new book, in the miss Peregrines universe, so what more could the world possibly want.

so that was... what ever that was Happy Christmas!!! and I will see you soon.

almost the end of autumn!!

Its my favorite half of the year the cold months, know lots of people dislike these months because of the weather and the fact that there are less out door actives. these facts are some of the reasons i love autumn and winter. and in order to make you understand my perspective as well i would like to give you my top ten reasons win-tumn rocks!!

book'em: books doing representation right!

I believe in social equality across all genders, ages, abilities and races. but although books are improving on the female front not many represent different ethnicity's very well. so here are 3 books i think do justices for People of colour.

1. Ready player one.

THIS book and representation ah I love it .It has multiple strong female character, 3 different ethnic backgrounds in the main group and talks about body image. know there are many books about theses issues but the best thing is about ready player on is that the book is not about, color or class or gender its about kicking ass and being the greatest gamer who ever lived. that fact that there race or general appearance does not get in the way is how it should be, it real and how differences do not matter. Also i know i have said it before guys but read the book it amazing and super cute in places.

2. When I reach you.

This books a bit of a weird one but its short and easy to read, and in someways very thought provoking. Now although this book does contain one chapter with raciest content its still a good representation of race as up until the point where the offensive language is used we have no indication of the girls ethnicity and i like that i means people who are judgment about these thing or who base assumptions on stereotypes do not have the chance to wrongly judge her before they get to know her. which is kind of the hole i dear of the book, to not always judge something bases on what you think you know.

3. The Luna Chronicles

This one almost didn't make it to the list as the first book does play on the smart Asian stereotype however, we later see cinder becoming much more than just a amazing engineer, she buds in to here own hero and real shows how P.O.C women rock. I have not gotten round to the other books in the series but i understand they are set in different countries also such as France (scarlet) its nice to see different regional identities coming in to books raver then just having the typical american protagonist.

glorious technicolor: i do the doctor who tag!

Guess who's not creative and is just doing tags at the moment... it is me if you can't guess. so to day i'm doing the doctor who tag which i don't own but i don't really know who does but credit to them!
okay know that out of the way can i just say i love love love doctor who almost if not as much as Harry Potter. So lets jump in to it, Geronimo!!

When did you start to be a whovian?
probably when i was round 7 and my mum would not let me in the living room when her and my dad were watching it, because it was "to scary" for some one "little", which was meant to be a warning but what i heard was the soft sound OF A GANTLET BEING DROPPED!!! I was determined to watch it, and i'm so happy i did doctor who is now so special to me and helps me stay happy so HA mother who's little know!!... its probably still me.

favorite episode?
The doctor the window and the wardrobe which is so funny and touching and i love the 40's and the whole Narnia feel, side note i love Narnia and Edmond is my favorite i don't even care.

(also the lodger is a my second favorite and we don't talk about it enough. we should)

lest favorite episode?
the robots of Sherwood, who thought that was a good idea seriously why and how does that arrow stop the ship, that makes no sense.

Favorite companion?
Now i love Donna so much but my favorite has to be Clara because i love her relationship with the doctor no matter how much he changes she sticks with him, i mean that's true friendship, being able to grow together and look after each other. The doctor saves people but she saved the doctor from being alone and bitter in his new form.

i also like leea because shes strong and influential not just one of those "oh doctor help me" unless companions.

favorite doctor?
I really liked 9 and 10 and but recently i have found my self being driven to wards 11 and 12 so any one of them two because i love them for different reasons.

lest favorite companion?
Micky smith because he never did anything help full when travailing with the doctor and he got in the way of my OTP. but after he left team tardis he did become pretty bad ass to be fair.

Lest favorite doctor?
NO. i'm not answering. don't ever ask me that and never talk to me or my 12 sons ever again!

what kind of companion would you be?
I think i would the doctor's wing women, i would get him and rose together quicker, arrange an intergalactic pub claw, make him take me to see all the beetles concerts, and make lame one liners. Basically i would be a mix of jack and Donna.childish, sassy, smart, sassy, helpful and SASSY.  I think if i was with 9 we would not get anything done, would just go through time trying to out sassy each other, and with 10 i would just try and out nerd him, 11 and me would always be in danger because we are both to set on fun to actually be serious about whats going on and 12 and i would have a kind of hufflepuff and slytherin relationship.

favorite monster?
the weeping angles always freak me out and the vashnarada no clue how you spell that but they really scared me. they really scared me. they really scared me. they really...

lest favorite monster?
The empty child, he was not creepy to me although i know a lot of people who were freaked out by him.

favorite robot
k9 hes so cute and i wouldn't be allergic to him, so having him as a pet it a win win.

favorite quote?
Anything from the unicorn and the wasp. "its a song errrr MAMIE *jazz hands*", "flapper or slapper?" and "Tell me Noddy's not real!!" especially.

favorite tradis?
Heartnel's its so cool and simplistic.

Favorite out fit?
Matt smiths because bow ties are cool.

Favorite sonic?
Sarah Jane's sonic lipstick hands down.

well that's it i really had fun doing this and i don't want to go but duty calls!

book'em: I do the your bookish ldentity tag

I saw katytastic doing this tag as well as couple of you tuber and bloggers so since i had so much fun doing the harry potter tag i thought i would give this a go.

who would your godly parent be?
Yes i started to read it i'm on chapter six currently and i have done some online research and decided i am an Apollo demigod! because i love music and musicals (i'm actually currently listening to hello from the book of morman)  i do write songs and poetry, I think archery is the best and i would love to learn, i am dyslexic and i'm quite good at patching my self up when i inevitable fall, and as you know Apollos children are healers. plus i do have weird psychic moments some times so there that.

would you be a downworlder or a nepilim?
Nepilim because the ruins are so interesting and it gives you a wider range of abilities. then if you where just a vampire or a fairy.

what house would you be in?
RAVENCLAW HOUSE PRIDE!!!! I love love love love LOVE my house and its a shame we don't get a lot of credit we have some great characters like Flitwick or enchants cupcakes to dance when students are sad, Luna who is honest and creative and Cho who loses her boy friend but still powers on and trains to fight Voldemort. we value creativity and learning, what is not to like! (also yes i am head girl but no i'm not bossy like Percy i let people get away with murder to be honest, i harry's chase quite literary)

which faction would you be in?
If you cant tell from the black and white picture i would be Candor, because i believe strongly that we should all try to be honest plus i'm pretty good at detecting lies. I would like to be divergent however i truly believe that if i was brought up in that society i not be a divergent.

 what would you peculiarity be?
this was not the original last question but i chose to change the tag up a bit, i would quite like to have a character who can multiply, so if I needed to go to a family event, do homework and re watch merlin for the 70000 time I could do it all at once! but to make sure my powers are not unlimited , I would say that the copies would not be able to talk and could not last longer than a couple of hours.

I hope you enjoyed this as much as i did i will see you soon, have a nice day.
(p.s. i do not own this tage all credit to the original creators)

absolutley potty: I do the Ultimate Harry potter tag

This year has been the year of harry potter and i am so so happy about that because as I have mentioned before I LOVE harry potter. In honor of this fact I decided to answer the questions to the ultimate harry potter tag that i found fandomsontherun  which is a great site that you should check out. Anyway let's get into the tag!

1)favorite book?
My favorite is the fifth book which i know is an unpopular choice because it is very long and it is the book were we lose serious, but i felt a real self of accomplishment finishing it plus it had Tonk and luna it in who I love! and I thought it was great to see the students all working together in DA there was so much interhouse friendship and cooperation, it was just really great to see. a very very close second for favorite book is the chamber of secrets, because i love dobby and the whole mystery of the pertrication.

2)Least favorite book
The book i liked the least was the new book the cursed child the play script was amazing however it was harder to admire myself in the story because as a play it had very little description.

3)Favorite movie?
the chamber of secrets i loved seeing the cake scene with dobby, I always thought dobby was adorable and i just loved how they kept that element in this film, but i am still disappointed that he was not featured in more films.

4)Least favorite film?
deathly hallows part one It was built up so much in the media but most of the main action happens in part 2.

5)favorite quote?
"we'll send you a hogwarts toilet seat" AKA the moment I fell in love with the twins.

6)favorite weasley?
The twins, and no i will not pick one.

7)Favorite female character?
Molly weasley, just rocks, she's fierce and stern but she is still the most compassionate character in the book. She proves that being a mum does not mean you can't be a badass to.

8)Favorite villain?
Lockhart because let's face it we all know a lockhart character who thinks the world revolves around them.

9)favorite male character?
Dobby because he was so loyal or Lee Jordan because his quidditch commentary was always the high ligh of the match.

10)Favorite professor?
It has to be Lupin because he was proving the ministry wrong just by being there and also he is so kind, forgiving and just generally the funnest defence against the dark arts teacher ever.

11)Would you rather wash snapes hair or listen to Lockhart talk about himself?
I would wash the hair in the hope he would gossip with me like most women do at the hairdressers.

12)would you rather duel bellatrix or and angry molly?
Bellatrix I want my revenge for breaking up the ginger dream team.

13)would you rather go to hogwarts on the train or in the flying car?
Definitely the train because I enjoy train rides in general.

14) would you rather kiss voldemort or give umbridge a bubble bath?
I would have to go with kissing voldemort but i would only do it when he was tom riddle i don't what the snake nose in my face.

15)would you rather ride a Hippogriff or ride a firebolt?
I would happily do either to be honest.

16)Is there a character you feel different about in the film?
Ginny. She didn't have the same sassy and i barely saw her until the later films.

17)is there a movie you preferred to the book?
No i think most were on par with the books.

18)Richard Harris Or michael Gambon?
Richard Harris he felt more friendly and grandad like.

19)one thing not in the movie you wanted to be included most?
S.P.E.W it was such a lovely and caring idea, plus i wanted more Lupin and Tonks.

20) if you could remake one move what would it be?
i would remake prisoner of azkaban and add in S.P.E.W.

21)which house was your gut feeling you would be in?
Ravenclaw i love my house so much!!!

22)what your pottermore house?
i have more than 1 account because i am terrible with passwords 2 ravenclaw one hufflepuff, even tho i think that even if i was not in Ravenclaw i would be slytherin so i think the hufflepuff one is a bit of an anomaly.

23) what would be you favorite class?
herbology  and  care of magical creatures even though I am allergic to most animals.

24) what spell is the most useful?
reparo because i am the queen of clumsiness.

25)which character would you instantly become friends with?
Neville he's like every ones dork brother figure and he's so funny but sweet. think i would be good friends with the twins to but i may take a while for me to prove i am worthy as a ravenclaw to be on the prank team. they will bring the evil to the pranks and I will bring the genius its like a squad made in heaven.

26)which hallow would you own if you could have only one?
the wand because its power could be really helpfull.

27)what in the books would you change?
i would have peeves and snape interacting more because i think that would be great to see him trying to make Snape have some form of expression.

28) favorit marauder?
Moony or Padfoot i just can't and won't pick.

29)who would you bring back to life?
Fred becasue i love the twins if you hadn't already guessed.

30)Hallows or horcruxes?
Hallows i would never hurt some one to prolong my own life.

so that is it be prepared for more harry potter in the future because you know i am obsessed, see you soon guys!

book'em birthday

Hey guys quick footnote here the penwick papers book club segment as you can probably tell has be rebranded mainly because I want to get some kind of consistent house style or theme going here and since mysteries are my thing, I figured my police reference works better.

Anyway back to the books this month is what i consider prime holiday time as well as my birth month meaning i have received and sort out some new books to read at the pool, beach and in my bed while i watch stranger things... again. So there is one book i really wanna talk about individually (i may do some more individual book posts soon but as this is the first its gonna be a quick one)

Ready player one by Ernest cline!!!!!
Just asdfghjk!!!! i can't even!!! Ready player one is hardcore awesome. It has all the 80's references and the nerdy stuff and its all about technology and human nature, how we always want something better. And wade... wade is so relatable to me if i was a boy and i lived in this time frame i be wade. not appearance wise but spiritually.

I just love how he talks like a normal teenager and he's not perfect but he's ambitious but he's not overly big headed  and has anxieties just like the rest of us, yet he still has some confidence in him self like we all should and arrrrrrrrrrrr READ THE BOOK!!!.

Also there gonna make a film of it soon and you can bet i'm gonna be first in line for that.

equaility

As i have mentioned before i am a feminist and i believe in equality for all, this fact alone is what inspired my little rant on tumblr which i am going to show you as i think more people should be thinking about representation. the media is should be something we can influence not the other way around.

how to create a fandom

Hi guys Rachel here professional fan girl, blogger and soon to be MP because there is enough seats going. Any way this is a post about what usually is in a book or TV show with a fandom and i though it would be helpful for writers trying to create the one fandom to rule them all. so lets get in to it

1. the main characters
your main character has to be some one we relate to some one we all want to be but cant be bothered to get out of our rooms and become. people must want to be them and people must want to date them. so make sure they are attractive both inside and out basically cast a British dude/ dame and give him/ her a dark past. Because for some reason we all about that emotionally disturbed past (i'm worried about us to). all so if you're struggling for actors use Benedict every one else sure as hell is.

2. abilities
give your main character abilities that are physical in-achievable for humans so we will have to just fan girl/boy over your character instead of actually getting a real relation ship. thanks a lot writers! J.K. Rowling i'm looking at you especially.

3. OTP's
You need a love interests something that will inspire creepy watt-pad stories and art that i do not want to see on my tumblr dash. build the ships and we will sail them. not matter how weird those ships are.

4. outfits
make the characters have crazy cool outfits that cos-players will never be able to replicate cough *Alice thought he looking glass*cough. NO but seriously Disney, what the f.

5. plot
try an adventure with people traveling to far off places that i will make my holidays in Cornwall juts look pathetic.

6. villains!!!!
3 words : evil, hot, torched. that right we love those psychopaths because all girls (especially) like a project. sure he destroyed Manhattan and tried to enslave us all but we can change him.

7. feed the monster you have created
once there is a fandom there must never be an end we want squeals, prequels, midquels, mini series, attractions, studio tours, vines. The fandom never dies because it will kill your social life to survive.

8. speaking of killing
you got to do it man some ones got to go and we will hate you for it but i you didn't we would find it boring. So break are hearts... again JK i'm looking at you.

So there you go that is how to make a fandom,  now sit back and look and the burning pit of hell you have created But don't worry we love you for it.

I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN EXAM TIME!

(I'm just gonna pat my self on the back for my sound of music pun)

So the exam season is upon us and i held back a bit on this post because even i didn't want to grapple with that stress. (side note does not grapple sound like a grape apple hybri).

okay so let's just go straight in before i derail my train of thought. this is a post to help you (hopefully) and i'm gonna give my not so pro tips, to help you in your hour of desperation (which it must be because you're here) but to add a little twist i'm gonna use musicals to help explain the step so a 5 6 a 5 6 7 8

Memory!
not only is it an amazing song by a cat its a good thing to consider people remember things in different ways so for me its songs or videos but you may like flash card or mind maps before you just start trying to read and remember to to see what's good for you you could take a what type of learner am i quiz and work from there. and if you find song do help but there are no songs on your topic make up your own for example;

Othello what a fellow
he was a hell of a guy
his happiness was near
but the "pestilence in his ear"
means "in honour"
"not in hate"
they
die

with Iago on his back
and himself on the "rack"
even "hell and night" collide
and singing "willow" went othello's bride

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
This one is pretty self explanatory, you have to have breaks or rewards to motivate yourself because without this you will become bored and retain nothing but don't break to often.

Tonight
all nighters are a big no no you will retain very little and be to tired to function in the moring then you will have coffee and over stimulate and that's not gonna be good for anyone.

Anything you can do i can do better
don't try and compete with others because it will only add more pressure just try and do the best you can because it doesn't matter about everyone else as long as you work to the best of your abilities.

The sun will come out tomorrow
exams won't last forever so keep the end date in mind and maybe do something to celebrate to congratulate yourself on your work.

Glorious technicolor :curiouser and curiouser filmography

I have always been odd, not in a bad way necessarily but still odd. i have an odd taste in clothing, a lot of plad and cardigans. I have an odd taste in books, either crime or old children's fiction. i have a strange decor in my room a mix of vintage ornaments, toys and furniture with doctor who and harry potter merchandise. but one odd thing that has been dragged up and the though the dirt but my friends especially is my odd taste in films and television programs. so i wanted to share the 3 shows/ films that cause some very awkward/ confused moments in my friendship group.

a bit of background to this before we start. i come from a large family as my mother is one of 8. all the children's ages were quite spread apart, meaning i have a lot of aunties and uncles of different ages, all of them, because we are quite a tight family group, have given me had me down vhs tapes, dvds or just recommendations of television shows or films.

okay so lets crack on with the count down!

1. tom thumb-1958
this films proubably wouldn't be shows on television today do to the presence of some toys in the background of toms nursery that maybe considered offensive. (well all know what i mean).
The film follows tom thumb as he tries to fit in and help his new parents. also for some strange reason the toys in his nursery are alive and his best friends who sing and dance with him but i think that was just to show off the clamation skills of the studio and acrobatic skills of the actors. Which would have been very impressive for its time.

my most memorable moments from this film, and my friends most concerned moments is the yawning man song. which is this toy that sings tom to sleep, it makes me physically tired, plus i just think its cute,(mainly because i love claymation)

2. classic fairy tales from around the world-1996
this one i received from an older cousin the vhs i had featured  switch the witch which is about a sister trying to save her brother from a witch with the help of a giant, if i remember correctly, it also had teh canterbury ghost which i loved even though it did mention blood and murder (where was the censorship for kids in the 1990's) and my favorite the pot of porridge which was about a magic cooking pot. all are so adorable and are animated to look like a book more than a film but i love them.

3. watch with mother broadcast from 1953-1975
the first television show on our list, this was a daily show that young children were encouraged to watch with their mothers (big shocker). the show had a different story to follow each day of the week. monday= the picture book, tuesday= Andy Pandy, wednesday = the flowerpot men, thursday= Rag, Tag and Bobtail and friday the woodentops. the shows current vhs are still in black and white but that fine becasue technicolour many be glorious but black and white is better.

well there are many more but i wanted to keep this post short so i can do more on this topic for another post. let me know if you watched any of these or if you know any odd films or shows or short I many enjoy.

have a nice day!

book'em: children's addition

hello all and happy easter. which so much time off you might if you are a bookworm like me be spending your days and nights living a book lover's dream.

one of my favorite things to do is reread childhood classics as there's nothing better than feeling like a kid again so here are five childrens books i would recommend.

1. Anne of green gables

first published in 1908 by L.M. Montgomery. the story follows Anne shirley an orphan girl as she comes to terms with her new life. Anne is outspoken and a daydreamer she reminds me a lot of little me. the book is full of dramatic irony and the cover is illustrated beautifully, by Anna Bond in this the puffin in bloom 2014 edition.

2. the secret garden

first published in 1911 by Frances Hodgson Burnett the secret garden is an absolute joy it has mistry, a sense of romanticism and in this oxford children's classics hardback edition sunning colours and pattons on both the cover and binder. it one of thoses book additions that remind me why i do not by ebooks as much as actual copies

3.mary poppins

this is one of my all time favorite books, mainly as i am obsessed with the magic of mary poppins, i loved the film as a child and adore saving mr banks now. this book gives more depth to mary and introduces us to some characters cut out of the film. the 2008 Harpercollins addition is a thin paper back and fit perfectly into hand bags so you can read it on the go, plus it has a note from Cameron Mackintosh one of the creators of the disney mary poppins musical!

4. alice's adventures in wonderland

this is the newest book in my children's collection and just like mary poppins this story has been very inspirational to me throughout my life, its amazing and fun and just spectacular. the book was first published in 1865 but this new version of lewis carroll's masterpiece by puffin is enchanting. its part of the puffin chalk collection meaning its cover is made to look like a chalk drawing and is sides have been hand cut making them ruff and rustic looking. it really adds to the story and again it is small and portable.

5. the famous five run away together

by far my favorite famous five books, its great to imagine children having that much power and i think this book was and still be inspiring to all children. my particular edition is the hodder children's book 1997 paperback, complete with illustrations which i feel really enhance Blyton's work.

that's all for this post i hope you look into my suggestions and taht you enjoy whatever it you read. comment your favorite books bellow or books you want me to read. have a nice evening :) and see you soon.

(all images are original images, and all books are available in other additions these are just my preferences)

the book'em book club

As the very tumblr virginia wolfe quote it my room says "books are the mirrors of the soul"so i felt a good way for you to all get to know me and to get some great literature into your noggins (do people say noggins?) is to recommend you some of my favorite books it is not gonna be a top 5 becasue i can't chose between my babies.
book 1. Elizabeth is missing by Emma Healey: this book is one of the most realistic representations of  dementia i have found in modern literature so far, the book also involves a mystery that seem completely unsolvable, even one who is a master of deduction would find it hard to foresee the events that follow as Maud begins her search.
book 2. the 4.50 from paddington by Agatha Christie i am a huge Agatha christie fan i have watch all teh tv adaptations, have read most of the novels and have been a river boat tour to see her boat house. teh 4:50 paddington like many other of Christie's novel always keeps you guessing and the cover part (the harper addition) is simply beautiful (i love that orange tones in it it's so pretty)
book3. Miss Peregrines home of peculiar children by Ransom Riggs this book is a sci fi/ period/ mystery/ghostly whirlwind of a novel and i love love love it. its one of these books you can envision in your mind when reading. i have not actually reached the end yet, although and i am very close, and i already know this will become one of my all time favorites.
book4. we all knew harry potter was gonna be on here. i am a massive harry potter fan and order of the phoenix is my favorite book of all, i love the progression of harry's character and how even though he's growing up he's still so clueless plus this book has luna, fred and george and serious in  it is the only one which my four favorite characters all alive and having major roles in the plot so yay!

book5. the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. Adams is liek teh terry prachet of sci fi and i love him. the book is funny unique, inventive and oddly deep if you think to much about this i took this book to the beach last summer and i literally read it from when the tide when out till when it came in.

okay well thats it for now i many do another instalment of my little book club soon i hope you enjoyed it :)

Absoluaty potty: aloha! more 'arry potter

for those of you who are not aware i am a huge huge potterhead. I literally can not describe how much these books, films and the harry potter community in general  means to me (well i could but it might be hard to understand with all the crying).

as you know the book series started in 1997 and ended in 2007 (9 years ago!!!!) which was a really rough year for the harry potter fans but at least the story continued in the form of the films until 2011 (excuse me while i process how it has been 5 years!). i remember balling my eyes out in the cinema as i saw it fade to black for the last time. in 2011 i visited the harry potter studio tour in london. since then i have gone a second time and am currently planning another trip because i'm a sad sad human.

As you know there has been many spin off books from the harry potter universe that make up the hogwarts library collection but this year JK rowling is releasing the cured child book, play and fantastical beast and where to find them. and as you can imagine i am dying with excitement.

even though we may have lost alan this year the potterhead fandom is still going strong after almost 20 years!!!

this is so inspiring to mean is it show how much book can shape and change people's lives and perspectives, even in this computer centric age. Harry potter teaches children about friend ship and bravery and it teaches adults its okay to be childish. The long the story continues the more lives it can touch and i find that so beautiful.

everything has to end at some point and harry potter has ended but these spin off stories show that with every end there will ALWAYS be a new being.
